Plastic Free July - what is it and how to get involved?

Plastic Free July is a global movement that encourages individuals, communities, and businesses to reduce their plastic consumption and make more sustainable choices throughout the month of July.

It's an opportunity to raise awareness about the harmful impacts of plastic pollution on our environment and take action to create a cleaner and healthier planet. Reducing single-use plastic consumption is close to our hearts at Cert. and we would love for our customers to join us in #PlasticFreeJuly this year and let us know what small changes you are making.

1. Refuse Single-Use Plastics:

One of the most impactful ways to participate in Plastic Free July is by refusing single-use plastics. Say no to plastic straws, bags, utensils, water bottles, cleaning sprays and take-away containers. Instead, opt for reusable alternatives such as stainless steel or glass bottles, cloth bags, refillable cleaning bottles and bamboo utensils. By making this conscious choice, you help reduce the over-all demand for disposable plastics.

2. Bring Your Own (BYO):

Make it a habit to bring your own reusable items wherever you go. Carry a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, straw, bags and food containers. These simple acts can significantly reduce the amount of waste generated while enjoying your favorite beverages and meals. Remember, small actions add up to make a big impact.

3. Shop Mindfully:

During Plastic Free July, pay attention to your shopping habits. Choose products with minimal or no plastic packaging. Look for alternatives like loose vegetables and fruits, products packaged in recyclable or compostable materials, refillable cleaning products (such as Cert. cleaning tablets).  When you start paying more attention, you’ll be surprised how much of your regular shopping contains unnecessary plastics.

4. DIY and Upcycling:

Tap into your creativity and reduce plastic waste by engaging in do-it-yourself (DIY) projects and upcycling. Repurpose plastic containers, bottles, or packaging into useful items like planters, organisers, or art pieces. By giving new life to these materials, you help minimise their impact on the environment.

5. Spread the Word:

There is usually quite a lot of noise on social media for the #PlasticFreeJuly campaign.  Get involved and use your voice to spread awareness. Share informative posts, tips, and facts about plastic pollution. Encourage your friends, family, and followers to join the movement.

6. Support Plastic-Free Businesses:

Identify and support businesses that prioritise plastic-free practices. Look for shops, restaurants, and companies that offer sustainable packaging, refill stations, or package-free options. By choosing these businesses, you send a clear message that plastic-free initiatives are valued and supported.  Shop for refillable cleaning tablets right here on www.certcleaning.com

Plastic Free July provides us with an opportunity to make a positive impact on our planet by reducing plastic waste. By implementing these simple yet powerful actions, you can actively participate in the movement and contribute to a plastic-free future. Remember, every step counts, and together we can make a significant difference.

Join the global effort this July and be part of the solution to plastic pollution.
