The Omicron variant is not a new virus, it is simply a variant of SARS-CoV-2 (which causes Covid-19). 

We know there's lots of science and jargon involved when it comes to lab reports, so what does it actually mean when our lab report says "all enveloped viruses"?

 

An 'enveloped virus' is any virus which has an outer wrapping or envelope around it.  This envelope is what carries the RNA from host to host, causing the virus to spread.

Some examples of enveloped viruses are the flu, hepatitis B and C, Ebola, and unsurprisingly, Covid-19 (SARS-Cov-2).

This outer wall provides a nice soft target for destroying the virus when it is outside of its host, such as on a surface.

First, the detergent & disinfectant in Cert. work together to disrupt and modify this soft outer wall whilst it is on a surface. 

Once the outer wall is down, the disinfectant is able to destroy and modify the inner RNA of the virus cell.
