Revolt Refill Repeat

Revolt Refill Repeat

World Refill Day lingers in our minds forcing us to confront the harsh reality of single-use plastics. It's a wake-up call for individuals and communities to shed their wasteful habits and embrace sustainable living. In this blog post, we will share 7 creative and impactful ways to contribute to a cleaner and greener planet.

1 Join the Refill Revolution

Make a commitment to reduce single-use plastic by embracing refillable options in your daily life. Invest in a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, and shopping bags. By refilling these items instead of relying on disposable ones, you can significantly reduce your plastic waste footprint.  Experts think it takes 3 months to form a habit - use your new reusable items for at least 3 months until it becomes second nature.

2 Download the free Refill app

Refill.org have created a free app which gives you thousands of places to eat, drink and shop with less waste and benefit from offers available on refill day.  Find over 270,000 places to refill your water bottle all over the world, along with coffee shops which reward you for bringing your own reusable cup.

3 Host or Attend a Clothing Swap:

Organise a clothing swap event where people can exchange their gently used clothing items. By participating in such events, you extend the lifespan of garments, promote sustainable fashion choices, and reduce textile waste. It's also a fun, free and eco-friendly way to refresh your wardrobe!

4 Shop Refillable Alternatives

There are refillable options for many types of products now, although some of them are lesser known as they have not reached ‘mainstream’ i.e. supermarkets and high-streets.  Spend some time researching which of your regular-use items have a refillable alternative.  Outside of your local refill shops, many products (like Cert. cleaning tablets) are available online and via subscription, making the refilling process simple and enjoyable.

5 Join a Beach or River Cleanup:

Participate in a beach or river cleanup event. These cleanups help prevent plastic waste from entering our oceans and waterways, protecting marine life and preserving natural ecosystems. By actively engaging in cleanups, you contribute to a healthier planet.  The Great British Beach Cleanup takes place on September 16th to 25th this year - get involved.

6 Join the Conversation

Take the time to educate yourself about the impact of single-use plastics on the environment. Watch documentaries, read articles, or attend webinars on the subject. Share your knowledge with others on social media, engage in conversations, and encourage others to make more sustainable choices. Get resources on https://www.refill.org.uk/

World Refill Day served as a powerful reminder that our individual choices can collectively make a significant impact on reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability. By implementing these ways you can contribute to a cleaner and greener planet.

Let us all join hands and strive for a future where refill and reuse become the norm, protecting our environment for generations to come.
